2018 National CLCs Conference - Call for Presentations

The 2018 National CLCs Conference, co-hosted by the National Association of Community Legal Centres (NACLC) and Community Legal Centres NSW, will proudly showcase the contribution that CLCs, partner organisations, academics and others make to shaping the future of legal assistance services in Australia.

It will involve collaborative discussions, the sharing of ideas and opportunities to explore a shared vision and lead change.

We look forward to a stimulating conference program to be developed with presentation submissions by you, our colleagues and partners with a passion for social justice.

We welcome submissions that address one of the following four conference streams. You will need to select one of the streams as part of your submission. Click here for more information about the theme and streams.

  • Leading change
  • Workforce
  • Outcomes for clients and communities
  • Good governance

Presentations may be in a range of formats. Following an evaluation and review of previous conferences, this year we are particularly encouraging presentations that are interactive and more actively contribute to the stated learning objectives of sessions.

Presentations will be either 45 or 90 minutes in length. For longer sessions, preference will be given to interactive workshop style presentations.

How to submit

The call for presentations closes on 31 May 2018 8 June 2018. Unfortunately, due to programming timeframes, no further presentations can be accepted beyond this date.

Presentations proposals must be submitted online and should be no longer than 300 words in length.

The following details should be included:

  • Title
  • Presenter/s
  • Area of expertise / interest of presenter/s
  • Short description of how the presentation contributes to the conference theme
  • Description of how the nominated conference stream is addressed
  • Target audience
  • Intended outcomes / learning objectives for session attendees
  • Overview of the session including length and method of delivery

As accepted presentations will be published in the program within the Conference App, authors are encouraged to use plain English and avoid using abbreviations and acronyms to maximise conference delegates’ engagement with your presentation.

You should receive an immediate acknowledgement of your submission by email. If not please contact Julie Jerbic at Conference Online on 07 5580 8677.

Review

Presentations will be reviewed by the Conference Organising Committee, which is made of representatives from NACLC and Community Legal Centres NSW, using the following criteria:

  • Alignment with, and contribution to, the conference theme and nominated stream
  • Adherence to the required submission structure
  • Originality of the practice/research/topic or issue
  • Clarity and quality of stated outcomes / learning objectives
  • Linkage of method of presentation to outcomes / learning objectives
  • Level of engagement planned for participants

We will let you know the outcome by email in late June 2018. We may approach you about doing a joint session with another presenter.

Please note that having your presentation accepted does not confer free Conference registration. All presenters will be required to register and pay the applicable registration fee.

Any questions? Give us a call - we'd love to discuss your ideas

Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you would like to discuss any aspect of the submission process or your presentation before submitting it. We welcome the opportunity to discuss your ideas for presentations.
