The Science on the Swan Organising Committee recognises the importance of promoting local research and practice amongst students, early career researchers and clinical trainees.
We know there are many passionate, highly skilled scientists in Western Australia working across the disciplinary spectrum to deliver outcomes in relation to chronic disease management, brain development and mental health and Aboriginal health and wellbeing across the State.
We would like to hear from rising stars in the medical and health community, and invite abstract submissions for oral presentations and posters for display during the conference.
Oral presentations will be judged by senior researchers and a selection will be invited to speak during the conference, with an inaugural Rising Star Award being presented on the final day of the conference.
Abstracts should relate to the conference theme, Science, Health and Community: From Mechanisms to Models of Care, and be no more than approximately 250 words (max. 1700 characters, including spaces).
Posters should include the purpose of the study, a brief statement of methods, summary of results and conclusion. Poster Presentation Guidelines will be included in your acceptance notification.
Please note that an individual may be the principal author and present only ONE oral presentation and ONE poster at the conference, although they can be subsidiary co-authors on any number of other papers and posters.
Cash prizes of $500 are available to the 8 best posters, submitted by Students/ECR/Clinical Trainees.
Cash prize of $1,000 presented as part of the Rising Star Award.
Abstract submissions close: Friday 9 February 2018
Acceptance Notification: Friday 2 March 2018
Please note: In order to be given an opportunity to speak or display your poster at the conference, you must register and pay to attend the conference. A significant student discount is available and only applies to trainees, graduate and post-doctoral students (registration in this category must be accompanied by a letter from the Supervisor or Department head indicating full time traineeship position).
If you have any queries regarding your submission, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
